Daycare center!

It turns out that I am apparently the daycare center for Megan. I’m waiting for my house to be christened something in line with such a profession - as it turns out my friends have an inability to go somewhere without naming it something that vaguely describes its purpose in life, or its inhabitants purpose in life. Not that I mind - but vaguely amusing nonetheless.

As for my day - it consisted of waking to have Megan inform me I would be babysitting her for the afternoon, thus leaving me about 2 hours to get up, do some internet house keeping, do my shopping and have an attempt at lunch. However, babysitting Megan is easy enough, and all I had to do was put on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and she was happy. Of course, with the end of the movie came net-net’s appearance online, and that distracted me for the next hour or so. And, to put things final and out in the open - just friends people - so drop it! And Bec - leave her alone and stop embarrasing her. :)

Played indoor soccer tonight - we won 10-7, I scored 2 (I think, could have been 3). From there it was hope for a few pages of my book before I was acquired to go play poker. I did alright considering that Cash cleaned the floor pretty rapidly. And, after several rounds of Warlords and Scumbags I make it back home for some sleep before Australia Day starts. Although, what I’ll be doing is a complete mystery, and could just end with me and my book (not a bad fate though…).

Taking a moment away from my own life - I was listening to an interesting lecture on my iPod about the connections between Dyslexia - including the actual definition of said ailment - and Genius/Creativity. It should be interesting to hear the conclusion, but I think it’s something that a lot of people neglect to understand - and I say that in full awareness of the words I used. Neglect - as in, do not want too - understand Dyslexia.

Believe it or not - it is in no way linked to one’s mental intelligence; despite many Dyslexia sufferers having higher than average IQ’s. It is simply a mental inability to remember certain phonetical sounds, and use them correctly. Pedestrian and Presbyterian sound alike - and can be accidentally swapped around - but it should not allow anyone to conclude that they simply got the two confused. It’s all in the brain’s handling of verbal communication. So I found it an interesting lecture to listen to, and one all of you should go check out at the Princeton online lecture series. Dyslexia and Genius; Two sides of the same coin?

I’ll leave it at that for the moment… off to get some shut-eye! For now, I leave you with a great strip from my extra life.
