social lives; not all it’s cracked up to be!

So I realised tonight as I went for a late night perambulation to Coles, that I’m not really the world’s biggest fan of having a social life. Sure, friends who care about you and who are fun to be around are great, but, in the end, they are human - and humans tend to annoy me a great deal.

So often they are self-righteous, arrogant and really not quite bright. They feel they can speak on issues that they have no idea about (Tim) and do so with such vigor it hurts you to listen to them make a fool of themselves. (And yes Greg, I heard your warning, and hereby dismiss it as intrusive and ingenuous!)

However, I think that this is just teaching me that there needs to be - for me at least - a certain degree of limitation to my social life. I need to be able to get up at midday, write or read to whatever hour of the night I please, and play World of Warcraft, listen to my iPod as much as I want and indulge in all the geeky delights that make me who I am; without thinking about what someone else will think.

So, now it’s just a case of making sure that I don’t go out too often during the week - for the reasons listed above, and in an effort to curb the money that seems to disappear the moment you have friends.

Of course - if you haven’t guess - this has all been brought on my Tim’s ridiculous behavior earlier in the week, thus allowing me to have time to write my new novel, read the Raven Chronicles by James Barclay, and play copious amounts of World of Warcraft (although today, I deemed it a WoW rest day, allowing myself to just read all day - with a break of a couple of hours TV to catch up on some TV).

So I’ll leave you with an image of my gorgeous characterization of my Peyton, from my first completed work of original fiction, portrayed in WoW form. Cheers!
