linkage
Well, I don’t have too much to say today… the OotP clip has kind of taken my breath away. Add to that working on my new website for the past couple of hours, and Rachel sleeping in my bed (we’re going to the Dawn Service tomorrow… I think I’ve already said this… nm!), I’m stuck out here all night. I think I’m gonna go for a walk, get some licorice bullets, and come back and watch a movie or get in to [tag]reading[/tag] my book.
Before I bombard you with my chosen links today though, let me just say that The Liveship Traders series is one of the best I’ve ever read. I feel that I keep saying this after each series, but, they just keep getting better. To quote George R.R. Martin, “Even better than the Assassin books”. They really are brilliant, and Robin Hobbs has captured the lifestyles and emotions of these sea-fairing folk magically. Please, go out and grab them here (US) or here (AUS).
Also, check out my new photo-blog (the website I mentioned above). It will feature the best of my work shown on [tag]flickr[/tag], in a very easy to manage website. I really like it, so go along and comment on what you see! Artistique is the website!
On with the [tag]links[/tag]y madness!
I’m a big fan of what our ancestors thought the future would be like. There have been several finds recently of old postcards from the early 1900’s, and these ones found in Germany are brilliant. Apparently sold by Hildebrands (a leading German chocolate company of the time), they depict what the artist thought life would be like in our age. Click here for the link, or have a looksie at the one below featuring holidays at the north pole. Thank goodness they hadn’t heard of global warming just yet…
A [tag]tech[/tag] bit for those who care, it looks like Amazon might be lining up to take on iTunes in the digital media market. And it looks like they may be (according to rumor) pairing up with Universal to sell DRM free classical music tracks. From the article here at arstechnica;
Initial reports about Amazon’s MP3 store came from Billboard, saying that that Universal Music Group had partnered with Amazon to sell unprotected music, mostly in the form of classical tracks. Such a move would be crucial to DRM-free music sales, as Universal currently holds the top position among all music labels and would send a strong message to labels who are nervous about following EMI’s lead. “If Universal goes [DRM-free], then everyone has to follow,” an anonymous music executive told Reuters on Friday. However, today’s report in the Times debunks the speculation about Universal as “wide off the mark.”
Are you employed at one of those pesky workplaces where you’re banned from certain sites. Notice that Boing Boing was one of those on the banned list? Worry no longer. Check out the Distributed Boing Boing page here to be able to check out all the latest in the weird world of news without bringing the nerds down upon you.
That about does it people, don’t forget to check out my new photo-blog, and comment here and there to let me know what you think! I love getting comments… And Dave, where’s Holly? Huh?
Almost forgot, check out this comic fromBLaughh. I just can’t help but laugh in agreement and amusement at the same time.
