humoresque

For those of you who aren’t aware, I’m a bit of a music snob and arty-farty bum. One of the telling signs of this is my love of classical music. Yeah, that’s right, I love classical music. My computer is littered with albums such as Mozart: Requiem K.626, 100 Masterpieces Vol. 1 (1685-1730) - 100 Masterpieces Vol. 10 (1894-1928), and Juilliard String Quartet - Shostakovich String Quartetes Nos 3,14,15. If you ever get the chance to have a listen to any of these, I highly recommend it.

All of this is leading up to my wanting you to listen a track entitled Humoresque, and written by the artist Dvorak (no relation to John C.). It is truly one of the most amazing pieces of music I have ever heard. When it reaches 1:32, you will be just blown away! Try and find it somewhere, it will be well worth your time!

Moving on, I found this article through Veronica Belmont’s new toolbar (check it out) and was intrigued. It seems that MySpace is now being used for more than just perverted 60 year old’s and highly strung 14 year olds. A couple have apparently begun searching for the chance to adopt a child through MySpace. At first this may seem a little creepy, until you remember the demographic that uses MySpace is definitely a large source of adoption at birth. Sad, but good at the same time. I wish them all the luck!

Many of you who read this blog will know that I am a huge fan of PennyArcade and MyExtraLife. They’re main attraction for me is the webcomics that they produce. Both are highly professional, and very witty and humorous. Below is the latest from PennyArcade, and is seriously very funny (click to read).

Sphere Factor

However, I must also draw your attention to the latest from MyExtraLife, featuring a parody of Jack Thompson. For those of you who don’t know, Thompson is an American activist and attourney, whose main aim in life is to link events like the tragic Virginia Tech massacre to video games. For the best run-down of his latest idiocy, check out Veronica Belmont’s rant here. Also check out MyExtraLife’s latest comic here, and this Wiki post regarding PennyArcade’s own troubles with the man.
