Has Captain Pike been cast?

180px-Pike1 For many of you out there, the first captain in Star Trek is probably William Shatner, or the woman-lovin’ Captain Kirk. What you should be aware of is that, even though he was rejected as the mainstay captain for the series, Captain Pike - who captained the Enterprise in the pilot episode of the original series - is now part of Star Trek canon; ie, law.

J.J. Abrams, according to reports coming out of Hollywood, has found his Christopher Pike; apparently.josh

This, first of all, gives me great hope for the movie. Not only does the storyline sound like a kick-ass idea, but bringing in Pike allows for some history that we’ve never been given access too; just how did Pike get the Enterprise?

You gotta remember, the Enterprise has always been the king of the fleet, even back to when it was a ship made out of wood.

The man for the role, according to sources, is Josh Lucas (A Beautiful Mind, Sweet Home Alabama, Poseidon). I like the look of this guy for Pike, and you can see for yourselves the similarities between the two actors.
