Wonder Woman Crashes in her Invisible Plain

… well almost.

220px-Morena_Baccarin_2005 But that seems to me to be the signals coming out of Hollywood recently. From when Wonder Woman was a movie I was highly anticipating, to a movie that isn’t even in production, the world of cinematic entertainment changes quickly.

Joss Whedon was originally lined up to write the script. Here’s why, according to producer Joel Silver;

Re: Whedon. “I just thought he would be the perfect guy to write it. I love Buffy and he’s a great writer. I sat down with him and asked if he’d do it, and he wrote me a note where he passed, and in the note, he explained what the movie had to be. There was no way I was going to let him pass, so I hammered him until he said, ‘Yes.’”

Whendon has long been an advocate of strong female presences on the screen. All you have to do is watch Buffy to see that exemplified ten-fold. Follow on to watch Firefly, read his comic work, the man knows how to write women, and he would have been perfect behind the Wonder Woman movie.

And he was a fan of Wonder Woman too. He knew what he wanted, as Silver said, and he has the talent to have brought that about. The movie was to focus - rightfully so - on her mythology, on her origins. The invisible plain, Steve Trevor, unrequited love!

So that he dropped out of the project due to “creative differences” with the studio behind the project was sad. It also didn’t bode well for a good film, when you ask yourself just what those differences are.

One last gripe… now that the movie is focusing on names like Megan Gale and Teresa Palmer for the role of Wonder Woman, my hopes of the beautiful Morena Baccarin - from Firefly and Stargate - portraying Diana Prince, fall by the wayside. *sigh*

I’ve sort of lost all hope for the Flash, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern movies now, but as a result, it leaves me open to be surprised. Of course, I’m not counting that to be a likelihood with a high chance of happening.

Why does everybody seem upset over Joss Wheldon not doing this film? For Pete’s sake, he was the worst choice to write and direct it, i don’t care if he did do Buffy. He wasn’t going to have her fly or in her original costume. yet u clowns are gripping about him being fired. have you guys LOST your minds? Get over it! Secondly this actress mentioned was no more considered for the role than Jessica Beil (that was started by her inner circle, not Warner). Now it’s too bad WB can’t get this production together. But they were off to a bad start from the beginning. Wrong director/writer. This story is not that difficult to put together. What everyone has to understand is Hollywood is not been able to write a powerful Female Heroic film since ALIEN 2. That’s why so many flop. They can’t produce a film with a female is totally able of saving the world on her own independent of a man’s help. It has to be about the woman’s sexuality. Just look at the evidence - Catwoman, Tomb Raider, Ultra Violet, Resident Evil, Long Kiss Good NIght, Elecktra all focused on their sexuality. Wonder Woman is above that and that’s why you’ll never see her in her own production.

Too bad so sad
