Major Batman the Dark Knight Spoilers… continued
Many of you will be well aware of my passion for the upcoming Batman movie, The Dark Knight, set to debut next year in July. It’s why I rant on here, instead of filling Comic Book Movie with pages worth of unrelated rant.
So you can imagine my delight when I heard of the latest spoilers, thanks to Kellvin Chavez over at Latino Review.
So if you don’t want to be spoiled, make sure you don’t take this jump… otherwise…
That’s right, Latino Review writer Kellvin Chavez sat down with a WB Exec and got the following scoop.
<spoilers>
The Dark Knight begins with the Joker robbing a huge bank (we’ve seen photos of this everywhere). The bank is where the mob and all the gangs in Gotham keep all of their money. The Joker takes this money and holds it “ransom”. The Joker then says to the mob and the gangs of Gotham, “If you help me take down Batman, you’ll get your money back. If not, I’m going to burn it all.” This is how the Joker assembles his army to take down Batman.

I’m seriously stoked, because this is a really good way to bring the Joker in to the film. We already know that he’s been monkeying around a bit, thanks to the final scene from Batman Begins. But, the Joker was never a two-trick party clown, he was king of Gotham, at least in his eyes. ![]()
Momentary side note - is it sad that, the moment I saw this picture, I knew which Batman was underneath? Michael Keaton, the second best Batman ever!
Anyway, moving on, I can’t believe how stoked I am with this piece of news. Because, it tells me more about the movie through what is not said. Let me explain.
The Joker manages to pull off a crime, in Gotham, and then ransom it off to the mob. This tells me that Batman isn’t home. Bruce Wayne has already gone off to Hong Kong, chasing whoever for whatever reason.
So we’ll have - at least, in my mind - two concurrent stories, running alongside each other until Bruce Wayne returns home, and finds the Joker’s been up to all sorts of mischief.
Anyway, that’s just my two cents worth on the matter. Please, leave comments, I like to know what you think, and you guys always fight so well in my comments!

hey, man thanks for the info. i’m as batty as you are for this next movie. i’m constantly checking message boards and the movie websites for anything new.
i inadvertly discovered a small tidbit regarding harvey dent.
i ran a wikipedia search: “Batman enemies” which resulted in a comprehensive list of Batman’s foes. towards the bottom of the page under the section entitled “Villains from comics in live-action media”, it lists all of the actors who have portrayed Harvey Dent/Two-face on the silver screen. it includes Aaron Eckhart for TDK and in parentheses adds:
(Harvey Dent throughout most of the movie, until the end)
here’s the link. just scroll down the bottom, last section.

Harvey Dent chatting with the bartender sounds like a great ending, leaving it open for the next sequel, similar to Batman Begins.
imdb quotes it as well:

man i can’t wait
see you in december
hahaha
No, It isn’t sad that you knew which Batman that was in the picture with the Joker because there was only one Batman movie with that Joker(Jack Nicholson) in it

What about FDIC? Why would the mob and gangs care if their money was stolen?
