Colin Farrell Surrounded by Triage Jokes

farrell_colinI was immediately intrigued when, in my RSS feeds, I saw enumerable “Colin Farrell in Triage” headings. First of all, the sheer inane glee that must have arose when the authors of these articles heard that someone – anyone – was involved in a project called ‘Triage’ must have blown the roof off somewhere. How hard must it have been to narrow their endless puns down to just the one?

But, more importantly, and something that every single article (bar one) has failed to notice, is that Triage is more than just Farrell’s new movie.

In short, the articles resemble this;

Colin Farrell will be playing the lead role of photojournalist Mark, in Danis Tanovic’s latest film, ‘Triage.’ Under the direction of Oscar winning Tanovic, who won the award for his ‘No Man’s Land’ in 2002, will direct the dark movie, also starring Paz Vega and Christopher Lee. 200px-Triage_cover

The only article that has managed to link it to the book is the Reuters article, which throws away the line by saying that Tanovic “will direct from his own adaptation of Scott Anderson’s novel.”

Written in 1998, ‘Triage’ is the story of Mark, a photojournalist who returns from his latest job alone, having seen his best friend and fellow colleague die. Written by Scott Anderson, this book is one of those books that often ends up on a high school reading list (ie, how do you think I know about it?).

In hindsight, I regret not paying the book more attention, as the tale told is imaginative, realistic, and worthwhile; the latter of which just does not pop up enough.

Either way, I’m looking forward to seeing what Tanovic does with this movie, but with his previous talents shown in No Man’s Land, I can’t imagine it being written off. Check out the books summary at Wikipedia or Amazon.
